The Snow White candle photo shoot…

…was a little bit scary. It took us a whole day to get it right, and I was on edge the whole time, afraid that we were just one toppled candle away from a photo shoot of Snow White’s funeral pyre. Like Daenerys Targaryen, the doll would survive the flames, but her dress would not. All went well though, and sometime after it was over and the candles were out, Chad was finally able to pry the fire extinguisher out of my white-knuckled hands.

I chuckled at the “funeral pyre” part, although I’m certain it was no laughing matter for you while doing the shoot. The theme of this shoot looks simply fantastic; would love to see a few shots of how this turned out!! :-D

Luck favors courageous people (and those who plan ahead to keep a fire extinguisher close by).
The candle glow must work like magic on the polished porcelain surface.Brilliant! :)

I’m so excited to see what this shoot was for! Judging from the apple… Snow White? Might I hazard a guess at the once-planned fairy tale book? :)

You read/watch Game of Thrones? The Daenerys Targaryen comparison is amusing… You don’t suppose you could have gotten any dragons from this shoot? :D

  6. Oh Hazel I think you got it! The fairy tale book. How amazing that would be. She never stops bringing magic into our lives.

When I started to read this post, I was impressed with the dramatic setup of a doll surrounded by candles. However, now I am even more impressed by finding out that Marina is a “Game of Thrones” fan! One question, though: books or TV-series?

I would love to see a story with Red Riding Hood.
Red Riding Hood is one of my favorite fairy tales, along with The Red Shoes and The Girl Without Hands. They are quite gruesome, but what fairy tale isn’t? I think that is why I love your dolls so much, Marina. They combine frailty and beauty with the cruel injustice of the world.
