Book Goes to Print!

Hey folks!

Great News! After much refining work, my book is going to print tomorrow. I’m so excited and relieved. When I got the first proof in December, it already seemed complete to my eyes but my wonderful editor has been kind enough to find and eliminate a whole bunch of errors in the text. Together, we polished it and refined it and cleaned it and improved it until I almost went crazy, but the manuscript is now truly perfect. Despite hating her a little bit at times during the process, I am truly grateful to have had her on board for this project. Thank you, Lindsay.

The printing and binding will take three weeks, and at the end of February we expect to begin shipping out the books to you guys! The edition is almost completely sold out, but there are still a few books left for those yet to order one. UPDATE: The first edition of the Enchanted Doll book has sold out!

    Hi Marina :-)

aahhhhhhhhhh, I am soooo excited right now!!!! I am looking forward to hold it in my hands and read through it! It was a great idea to make such a book, thank you for that :-)

    Best wishes from Germany!

  2. The Old Maid says:

    Congrats Marina!
Hope that one day I will be able to buy it for myself! Lucky you, guys, who ordered it!!!

  3. Amal says:

End of Feb you say? This will be like a slightly late Birthday present! Wooooo! :D

(Hehe… I wanted to tell you, my two of my friends saw the book announcement on your blog and told me that they thought, “hey Eva would like this maybe I should get her a copy… oh, who am I kidding, I know she’s already ordered one!” ;)

  6. Orangey says:

Ah, I’m sure the book will be an incredible read, your original proof was probably spotless, and with a final polish it pushes it over to 110% perfect. I love your ‘library’ area by the way, it looks so cozy with some nice natural light coming in from one side.

I’m looking forward to an update about the contest- if there will be one this year =P

  7. Annina says:

    yaaaaaaaaaay so exciting!!!
thank you Marina and props to Lindsay and Chadand anyone who worked on it, i look forward sooo much!

*joins Amal in the book dance* (^_^)/

  8. Gouramani says:

Hello, will the book be available later on Amazon or some other online book shop? I’m asking it, because I’m from Brazil and I don’t know if the shipping will be too expensive. I need to know it before buying the book.

  9. Im doing the happy diddly doo dance……yes. I so can’t wait to have my copy. I might have a slight heart attack when I get my copy in the mail.

    Thank you!

  10. Marina says:

I’m not sure if I will ever make it available on Amazon. I’m not a huge fan of it.

The shipping to Brazil shouldn’t be too expensive from my experience in shipping things there. Pretty average international shipping. Email me your address and I will get you a shipping quote to help you make a decision.

I’m so glad you guys are excited too. I’m looking for the perfect pen to sign all these books. It has to be perfect.

  11. kelly says:

The book will be amaaaaazing!!!!! Everything you do is amazing. Can’t wait.

  12. Annina says:

Marina i was thinking, be careful when you sign them, don’t get all kinds of papercuts! :/ ;)

  13. Marina says:

I think that paper cuts are the inevitable side effect of having to sign several hundred books, Annina.

I’ll leave a bunch of my blood all over the pages. They will be very personal signatures. This way, a few decades from now a book owner will be able to clone me from the DNA samples I left in their book.

  14. Amal says:

    *but still wants one!*

  15. Annina says:

lol haha, you crack me up Marina!
    and Amal, same! ;)

  16. Merri says:

Ooh Marina – please make sure you leave plenty of blood on my copy! I would love to have a clone of you. She could make me a new Enchanted Doll every week!!!!

  17. Jayne says:

I hate to quote Moni’s lunacy but,”Book book book, Book book book! I get a book book book! Doo dee book dee book da doo book dee book lalalal!!!”

Oooh Marina blood all over the pages…Hey Amal & Annina, do you think we could extract the DNA and each have a Marina clone in Oz, Britain and Sweden?
That way she wouldn’t have to work so hard :)

  18. Im in with the blood on my book also. I will chip in with you guys Jayne, Amal and Annina so we could add Quebec to your clone list.

If possible Marina no blood on the doll pictures………

  19. Amy says:

Splurged on myself as a birthday present and purchased a copy! =]

Love the picture of the dolls in the curio built into the bookcases. Lovely!

  20. Hazel says:

Eeeeeee! I’m SO excited! I’M SO EXCITED! :D

    February cannot end soon enough!

  21. MigMig says:

Oh, the B-Day is coming! I hooe to get my copy just in time for Australian Autumn. I imagine sitting near a fireplace and reading it …

I think I will print the photo from this blog entry as a bookmark. I really like the content and placement of the corner display cabinet between bookshelves. Thank you for sharing!

PS. Marina, what about actually signing the books in your blood? You already said you will get paper cuts anyway… :o)

  22. luna says:

imm sooo exciteddd <3 <3 *_* cant really (but i must wait oh well ) but im worried about something i made my payment thru pay pal and everything and never received a confirmation e mail

  23. Eiko says:

Yay, I can’t wait to receive my book at the beginning of March. I’m so glad that I ordered a copy. I haven’t received an order confirmation yet but I’m gonna assume everything is fine.

BTW Is there any news on the birthday contest this year?

  24. Orangey says:

HA HA, Marina, what a thought. The crazy humanoids of the future will be able to clone about a dozen of you. In the 11 years that your clones will exist, the world will fall under submission of their great empire. It’ll be a great time in history.

Good luck finding the perfect pen. Perhaps a nice fountain pen.

  25. Annina says:

Jayne what an excellent idea, one Marina for each continent! :P

ps: after paying i didn’t get order confirmation either, i think our paypal “receipt” is our confirmation, to save Chads hands from another 500 emails! otherwise we’d get bloody emails from him :O
(Chad should add some blood to some books too, because each Marina clone will need a Chad clone!!♥)

  26. You guys, when on earth did this comment thread turn all grizzly and every second comment turn out to contain the words blood, cuts, blood, clones, and more blood?
    Oh… Annina… I see. :-P

Can’t believe one will be coming to Hungary. Yippee!! These Huns won’t know what hit them! If there’s a picture of the Blood Countess (again with the blood) I’ll take it to her castle and show them there, I love visiting it :-)

  27. Annina says:

it wasn’t me, it was the house elves typing and leaving my name ä_ä
    ghastly folk ;)

  28. Caesar Wong says:

Ordered! I’m surprised this is only $75 really, which means a record of Marina’s creations, history and art collected into one volume is only valued at $37,500. I’d have put it at a lot more than that…

  29. Hazel says:

“Jayne what an excellent idea, one Marina for each continent!” – Annina
    Dibs on the Asian Marina!

And, Caesar Wong, yes! It’s actually really cheap. Another one of my favorite artists released an art book last year costing nearly twice this amount for the hardcover, and it was unsigned at that. Which is why I was so bent on getting one from the first edition. I had my Christmas money saved up for something else, but this will be so much more worth it.

Ah, but now I get the feeling I’m ripping her off. Someone please tell my conscience to stop.

  30. Gouramani says:

    Hi Marina,
I just emailed you my address in Brazil using the e-mail address you provide on the contact page of your site.
    I’m waiting your reply.

  31. Maki says:

I live in the US. Is it possible to get any kind of ballpark shipping estimate on this book, say for the zipcode 94112?

  32. Orangey says:

Caesar, that’s the first 500 copies.

I’m glad Marina didn’t overly overprice her book. =P

  33. Rebecca says:

Good work, lady–editing is a rough job.

    Can’t wait to see it!

  34. Marina come back, what are you up to! Are you doing something behind our backs……ouff

  35. Merri says:

Marina, congratulations on selling out the first edition!
I agree with Christiane, can we have some more sneak peeks now ……..pretty please?

  36. Orangey says:

    Sold out! Congratulations! *Clap clap*

  37. Eiko says:

Congrads on the book being sold out!!

  38. Marina says:

I’m always doing something behind your backs.
But they are almost always good things. You will thank me later.

  39. Annina says:
