there are countless versions of the myth , it has its origins in the ancient aztec people , in every version of the story a woman walks along the rivers lakes and sea shores , crying " OH MY KIDS! AH MY CHILDS!" in spanish " ay mis hijos" in pityfull loud moans , acording to the legend hearing them brings bad luck and you event thought you can watch her from the saferty of your house as she passes by , you must NEVER let her see younglings...

the origins of this legends are many but the most well known tells the tale of a spanish woman who came to the new world married and had kids , but her husband had to leave for war. time passed by and she assumed she died , she fell in love with another man , but the man wanted kids of his own , and so driven mad by the despair she murdered her own children drowning them or killing them and tossing the bodies to the riveer ( in some versions she just wanted to marry to pay debts and live the life she was used to in otheers theere wasnt another man at all), of course the man was horrified when he found out and wanted nothing to do with her. after realizing what she had done she either ran to try and find the kids or commited suicide ( in somee versions the husband came back and killed her when he found out what she had done) and so her punishment is to seek endlessly for her lost children and regretting it for ever , mad pittyfull lonely...

but the inspiration really came from your blog

I was browing it thinking what to do for the contest and then it just struck me! afetr you uploaded your breast cancer doll , saw your pregnant doll, it made me remember a a friend who had a misscarriage , she lost he kid and says she sometimes feels as if the kid was still in her , kind of like a ghost , so she can never forget about him , she regrets it still as iif it was her fault , so I made it because it has my mexican roots , it shows a problem women have to deal with , and it is personal in the sense that I cry with my friend...
