Hey, just a reminder you all, that my first rubenesque doll “Muse of Art Nouveau” will be in the exhibition at Strychnin gallery in Berlin. The show opens on May 11th, but the preview begins today for those who may be interested in this special doll (contact Strychnin for more info).

Also, the gallery has one signed and numbered copy #268 of the sold out, 1st edition Enchanted Doll book available for sale.

Dear Marina, First off I received my signed copy of your new book and am thrilled with all the fascinating information about you and your amazing dolls.

I had an observation about your new “rubenesque” doll “Muse of Art Nouveau” that I’d like to share with you.

After seeing the recent photo of her standing next to your regular figured doll I couldn’t help but think that her figure resembled an earlier period of art. Not really “rubenesque” (i.e., her breast size and thin arms and legs (where are her muscular thighs and shoulders? Ha! Ha!) at least not Peter Paul Reubens’ interpretation, but rather a wonderful representation of the “Mannerist” period of art during the Late Renaissance, 1520-1599.

If you pull out your Art History books (I’m betting you have those) please check out two paintings from the period: Parmigianino’s, Madonna with the Long Neck (her right hand at her neck is almost scary in it’s resembalance to your Muses’ hand) and also Bronzino’s, Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time. Venus’ long arms and legs, her small breasts and plump stomach again remind me of your Muse (though I have to admit Venus’ feet aren’t anywhere near as graceful as your Muse’s feet). Anyway, I hope I haven’t offended, I just wanted to share my epiphany with you!

And finally, thanks always for sharing your beautiful work.

Lovely poster! I hope all the patrons of the Berlin show appreciate how fortunate they are to be able to see such beautiful little works of art in person. Colour me green with envy!!

I just sent a letter to the Strychnin gallery, maybe, give it to me God please, they will help me with the acquisition of the most desirable book in the world!
And I hope to see a tenderest Muse in fall at an exhibition in Moscow, where I’m going to go. How beautiful she is!

  5. Crystal says:

She is lovely. Will there be other dolls there?

  6. Marina says:

There will be other dolls by different artists, but just one Enchanted Doll.

  7. Only one Enchanted doll…but oh what a doll!
