Nitocris: The first Woman-Pharaoh

2006
Sold

Porcelain. Ball-Jointed. One of a kind. China-painted features and body blush . 12” seated. The costume is removable and elaborately embroidered with fresh water pearls, semi-precious stones, Austrian crystals, and thousands of glass beads.

This piece is my tribute to the first Queen of Egypt-Nitocris. It captures her on her final night, four thousand years ago; lounging in all her regal splendor, resigned and proud in her vengeance as she introspectively and calmly observes her condemned guests, anticipating their and her own death.
