I’ve been working on the Special Five ultra limited edition of the Echo doll which should be finished and available this spring. Amongst other unique characteristics, this edition will have a very special feature: interchangeable feet.

Each doll will have two sets, a pair of normal feet with a silver pedestal shoes and an alternate pair of Lotus feet with  silver lotus slippers.

Each set of hands is unique too. All fingers are posed a little differently, while one of them is wearing a ring. Even their little faces show minute differences in painting. They are five sisters, each one with her own secrets.

They are waiting to be Echos.

I’d love to own one, but my bank account disagrees.

  6. Eiko says:

    Wow, they all look amazing.

I hope that you’ll explain to us how we’ll be able to change the feet.

  7. Merri says:

I second what Jayne said !!
I would love to see a photo of all five sisters together, when they are finished.

  8. Annarchy says:

Marina, I have one (hopefully little) request- pretty, pretty please take some photos of all the girls together when they are finished! It would be fascinating to be able to compare the subtle nuances of their individual painting side by side. They look so lovely and serene!

  9. Kasia says:

I’m speechless! Echo is wonderful! Pure beauty…

  10. Amoreen says:

I agree with Eiko, Merri and Annarchy: it would be wonderful to see all five sisters together and also how the feet are changeable. Please!!!!!

  11. Jeanette says:

    They are absolutely beautiful…

  12. Orangey says:

Wow wow wow! These are looking incredible! The hands look stunning. Bound feet truly are horrendous, I pity the girls that had to go through this.

It doesn’t seem like you’ll use magnets to attach the feet but it’d be an interesting idea.

Could I win Lotto, please? Not a million dollars, not even 100K, just enough for one Echo…

    Hello Marina,
I imagine how long it has been take to realise those so so beautiful and precious sisters!! I love very much your work,
it’s really exciting to see your work process and finaly to discover how long it takes to realise beauty!

  16. ALBA says:

I hope and I need one of this beauties too!!!and I wait for the book^^

  17. Crystal says:

So wonderful! The eyes are just so vivid against her white skin, how do you get such great depth? And interchangeable feet? How in the world did you do that while dealing with porcelain and springs!?

  18. Astera says:

It’s a very good idea to have interchangeable feet: it makes the dolls so much more versatile. Love the ring hand and, yes, I too look forward to seeing the 5 sister together and study the subtle differences in their features. As always, great job!

  19. Kate says:

I’ve been wondering, how do you make the feet interchangeable? Do the dolls have to be put together differently? That would make for a very interesting post! I always like your process posts :)

  20. Suok69 says:

What a beautiful sight!!! Simply amazing to see all the parts together that soon will become utterly stunning dolls. I hope you will place an information about them prior selling.

  21. Sarah says:

I fantisized about dolls just like these at a very young age… To see this for the first time actually left me with my mouth wide open… I have been looking at EVERY picture and detail of your makings for the past 2 hours! Pure genius! You have got to be one the MOST talented young women i have ever come across!!! Pure talent… WOW! WoW!

I am curious, is it possible to have a doll made to look exactly like myself? Or at least same body type and similar features?

  22. Isabel Pacheco says:

I want to see the five together several photographs, also know the story you tell on each of these beautiful dolls :)

  23. Ulrica says:

Stunning work! Not just the handiwork itself, but the ideas behind it. Kudos!! :-)

  24. Alecksandra says:

It’s very interesting! Dolls are lovely!

  25. Julia says:

God! What a wonderful idea! Marina, you are really a creative person!
Sorry for my poor English, but I really like the lotus feet, it’s ancient Chinese style, like my grandmother’s feet, and different posed fingers, and with ring.
    Love it!!!

  26. rangela says:

I think the lotus feet are a perpetuation of a sadistic ritual instituted by men to make women less empowered.

  27. kymberrly says:

it’s soo cool that she can has both lotus feet and normal feet. I have seen old ladies with lotus feet and it’s lovely that you make the feet look real with out being as terrify as the real feet
