New Enchanted doll!

So for over a year now, I’ve been steadily working on a project under the code name of Madman P.

I’m not going to tell you much more about her just yet, as she is at the stage where she will begin to reveal herself pretty quickly from now on. The thought makes me giddy. I’ve never thrown my doll a wrap-party before, but I think she may warrant one, as she had nearly taken my sanity to the kiln with her. Although, at two-thirds of the way through, there’s still time to lose my mind.

Before I can begin painting Madman P., I’ve got to test some brand new china-paints, so now I’m going to get on my skates, or possibly a Razor scooter and roll on over to the local tile shop for some porcelain tiles to paint. This brand is geared more towards painting dishes than dolls, so I’m not sure if the flow and consistency will work, but I’m hoping to be able to adapt them to my application. Time to go and finish Madman P. before I go mad-my-self.

    Also – OMG chin dimple!

She is bewitching! Love that little smile! And the carving is magnificent! Can’t wait to see how you paint the design, and the face, with those new china paints.

A new doll is always exciting…but this one seems especially intriguing. I have so many questions. Is she the same size as usual? Why the need for new china paints? Why has this doll, in particular, tested your sanity? Guess I’ll just have to be patient. :)

  11. Els says:

She looks absolutely amazing. I love the design of the tattoo.

  12. paulina says:

She is incredible Marina! She is stunning and the tattoos are amazing, also her face is adorable, she seems to be secretly smiling, doesn’t have the sweet sad expression of your other dolls and looks like she is keeping a very special secret. I will be waiting anxiously to see her finished :D ! I have the most great admiration for you, my congratulations :) !!!

  13. Phoenix says:

Hhhhmmmmm, ponding over this lovely face I think her face/smile reminds me a little bit of the face from Marina’s Elisabeth Bathory :-)

    • Marina says:

Yeah, a little bit. Although it’s a completely different head sculpt. I think I’m just really drawn to this kind of bone structure.

    • Crystal says:

Love that doll! She had this warm little smile, but then you realized there was another very subtle and frightening emotion (power?) behind that smile, kind of “diabolical”. Then again, maybe I was imagining it ? I just love those kinds of mysterious faces.

  14. Aeroksana says:

New sculpt is so beautiful! Breathtaking work!

Marina, may I ask you about new china paints, is it Ferro Heraeus?

  15. SereneNight says:

Marina’s enchanted doll’s are something that is out of this world ! A huge fan of her ! Been checking Ebay for weeks hoping for someone to sell his doll or something ( I’m dying to own one ).

  17. Victoria says:

Marina, are you sure you want to retire? I can’t imagine this world without your enchanting dolls. This doll like all the others is pure magic.

  18. Sharon says:

Victoria, I think that retiring comment Marina made awhile back was a joke. She has too many years left to retire. I know she loves her dolls by the way she talks about them so I am sure she won’t give it up anymore times soon.

Love this new doll. Yes it looks more happy than some of the others,

  19. cha hof says:

I surely she came out more beautiful as you always made her precisely.

  20. DeeDee says:

Nice engraving! Hopefully you won’t plaster embedded crystals all over or slap on tons of gold. Other than that, I am intrigued. Madame Pompadour was over the top but not vulgar.

    • cha hof says:

I agree your comment, I was trill and intrigued ,Madame Pompadour. marina can’t do that I guess she knew exactly what she like.

      • DeeDee says:

You never know. The plastering of cheap swarovski crystals seems to have become a trend in porcelain bjd at the moment. Looks like bad costume jewelry.

        • luna says:

Like she ever makes/uses cheap looking things

          • DeeDee says:

Well, since you ask, one can buy the exact moon-faced components that make up Phryne the Cortesan’s headdress on eBay or Etsy for 32 USD. I’d say that was cheap. It must be the artistic way Marina sticks 3 of those pre-made Bali silver components together into a headdress that makes it expensive. Let’s just say I was not impressed. I am a fan of Marina’s but this was disenchanting.

  21. Cat says:

I love the way she looks so far- her smile is so sweet.

  22. Jill Jackson says:

the sculpt is beautiful and the tattoo looks amazing. She looks perfectly Enchanting.

  23. Myst says:

anyone else notice the piercing in her ear? the engraving of the tattoo is so intricate, after Daphne I was blown away, this one is gonna be even more intriguing. can’t wait to see more of this doll
