The dolls that will be shown at the “Fragility” show in Berlin at the Strychnin gallery have been unveiled.

You can see them on the gallery’s website at www.strychnin.com, clicking “for sale” and then “Fragility”, or you can click right here.

If you need to see more, which I anticipate many of you will, additional shots have been uploaded to flickr, with a few more going up later.

Now back to setting up the show, need to get these girls ready for their big live debut.

They are literally drop-dead gorgeous, and your best doll faces/molds to date, in my opinion. Your painting technique is amazing, which just adds a greater depth and emotion to the dolls. They have become more human looking also, if that were possible. Firebird has a sexy aura, while Stages of Grief looks like a goddess, she’s so beautiful. The hair color is so poignant, it’s so perfect for her. I love how you’ve done the stream of tears also.

Good luck setting up for the show, there’s no way it can’t be a success, even if you displayed the dolls in a cardboard box. I think all of us not going wish we could be there.~

    I love the new dolls.
It was wonderful to see all the bits and pieces Marina been previewing in blog posts, like the insect headpieces and prostetic tattoos, along with beautiful new faces. I loved something about every single one of them.

I am just beside myself over firebird! All SO gorgeous!

That’s a lot to take in, that’s the first time I see so many new dolls of yours at once since the day I first saw your website. All the metal accessories are mind-blowing. Your painting is certainly getting better and better and you continue to surprise us with your imagination. You must have been insanely busy these past few months and I hope you’re going to take some time off.
I think my favorite is Specimen. I’m normally repulsed by bugs but her headpiece suits her strangely well. I’m also specially drawn to Anna Karenina, very intriguing, and of course the countess’s outfit is just stunning. I think my next favorite is Captain Nemo’s daughter, fresh-faced but somehow wary as well. Anyway, they all are captivating!

Whoa! I was blown away by the shear number of dolls you’ve created (and kept secret from us)! And they are each SO detailed–especially how different their styles and cultural (?) backgrounds are. I’m so glad that you have expanded your dolls’ facial shapes and expressions :)

  12. swdolls says:

Wow!! Marina, your painting skill has dramatically advanced. Look at your doll faces, they look so real that when I first looking at it I thought they were real persons. When are you coming to the Bay Area? I really love to meet you and see your works in person.

  13. Sylph says:

Definitely a feast for the eyes :) They’re all so beautiful!

Is the headdress on Specimen the result of those preserved beetles and such you talked about a while back?

And there’s something about Tahlia that I’m absolutely in love with :)

  14. The Old Maid says:

I love the crying one:)The traces of the tears are so perfectly painted:) The green-eyed one looks cool too. I have the impression her face-up is slightly different than the dolls’ before? Her face is like catching the light:)Beautiful!

  15. The Old Maid says:

Ps. I was watching the photos on the other sites. The dolls are beauty! Why they are so expencive? Oh well I will collect the photos for my own ;) Good luck for the show!

  18. Andra says:

There’s something different in these doll’s faces. Some of them don’t have the perfectly harmonious features I was used to seeing, and this makes them look more “human”.

My favorite is the Virgin. Second comes Anna Karenina.

  19. Jayne Wourms says:

Totally not what I was expecting to see, I thought we would see Cixi with her gown finished and an outfited Hemaphrodite… The blood countess is amazing. I love the shape of her face, you get the impression is she smiled wider she would have dimples! A sterling silver poke bonnet and those beautiful shoes on Olga Larina and don’t even get me started on grief. Lord, what an absolutely amazing show!!

  20. Incredible Marina, I’ve been looking at the flickr photographs too.. I’m speechless. So many favourites… I’m partial to the Bloody Countess being from Hungarian background, the new faces are great to take in… the features are morerefined and delicate.. very interesting characters…. so beautiful!! I am utterly envious of anyone getting to see these in person!!!!!

Congratulations Marina, you have really outdone yourself!!!
