The Emperor’s Youngest Daughter is a metaphorical echo of my earlier doll Lotus, because her costume is made from a printed photograph of Lotus’ original bead embroidered dress. Her little feet are also bound and clad in tiny sterling silver slippers. I imagine that Lotus and Echo are mother and daughter. In my continuous search for different methods of producing ornamental textiles, Echo was my first experiment with dye sublimation printing.

Construction: Permanent UV resistant dye sublimation polyester print. Swarovski crystals, glass roses. 24 karat gold plated and enameled sterling silver shoes, 24 karat gold overlay jewelry, mohair, porcelain, china paint, industrial springs, leather. 13.5” (34.5cm) tall.
