Fire Bird

Fire Bird (Жар Птица) 2010

Ball jointed, porcelain, limited edition nude doll. A brand new face painting design is inspired by the late Pre-Raphaelite painting style while the character is taken from the Russian mythology and folklore.

A Fire Bird is a magical folk character, portrayed primarily as a majestic bird with glowing plumage that frequently re-occurs in many Russian fairy tales as an exquisite object of desire for both noble and dishonorable men as many seek to capture it. The magical creature is a dual, trickster character in nature and tends to be a metaphor for temptation and greed as the sources of social corruption, as well as courage and strength of those fight it.
