Summer’s End

Hey guys!

I’ve been away from the blog for a few weeks, but with the summer drawing to a close and rains returning to Vancouver, it is time for me to come back online and share with you some new dolls I had made earlier this summer, before both my kilns suddenly went out of commission and left me stranded in doll-making limbo. That’s coming up next, but today, I’d like to share a small glimpse of my summer holidays with you. Chad edited a beautiful short film to commemorate a long camping trip we took with a bunch of friends (17 days in the back country of British Columbia!), while I made a map of our journey. Take a peek into my summer!

Good luck with the kilns !!!

  7. What a nice Summer Getaway! British Columbia is very scenic and has nice lakes. Cliff diving was awesome! It looks like, you had nice weather, too. Thank-you for, a well put together Video! I enjoyed it!

Wow! What a big trip! Oh my God the water looks so sparkling clear and clean. Love the dog, he looked so happy to be there.
And thank you Marina for jumping from the lower cliff. When I saw all the people jumping from that high cliff I was saying to myself, “No Marina don’t do it, don’t risk depriving the world of more of your art!

  9. Marina says:

I appreciate your concern, Crystal. I don’t like heights very much, so cliff jumping is not my thing. But those who did jump off it, seem to really enjoy it.
I wish I was braver, sometimes.

Welcome back! That video is gorgeous. Makes me want to have an adventure in a forest and up the mountains too…but no jumping from high cliffs for me either. No nerve and too much self preservation instinct to do that! Still it was nice to watch the intrepid swimmers do it and experience the thrill vicariously. :D

What did you say happened to your kilns? Will you be able to fix them or will you have to replace them? I hope you’ll find a way get out of the limbo and up to the skies again with your dolls soon. Looking forward to seeing your latest works, as always.

  11. Marina says:

I’m in a bit of a crisis with the kilns. There is a double problem of having a wiring issue in my new studio and needing to replace/update a few kiln parts in order to try to compensate for the wiring problem.
I don’t know if it will work, and I can’t use my kilns as they are now.

Waiting for the parts to arrive to try, but there aren’t many options after that. It’s been kind of a nightmare.

  12. Astera says:

Oh no! I thought it might have something to do with the move to the new place…I imagine how frustrating that must be. Don’t loose heart: you’ll find a way, I am sure.
    A big encouraging hug.

Yayyy, so happy to have you back! <3 Wow, the video is beautiful. Makes me want to make a trek into the woods of BC, something I have done since I moved here years ago.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about your kilns. That must be really stressful. I hope it's nothing too serious and can at least be fixed soon. Wishing you all the best! <3

  15. Wishing you, a solution for the kilns. The temperature is so high for the kilns, this could be tricky?? Good luck, I’m sure you will straighten it out. My Husband is a very good Electrician, I’m going to mention this to him, just for curiousities sake.
