Hey folks!

After much debate, I’ve decided to make the silver lantern pendant available to order. It wasn’t an easy decision, because this piece is quite difficult and time consuming to make, requiring a special assembly and a technical casting. But, having gotten a bunch of requests for it, I think I can pull off a very limited number of orders per month.

I love this Lantern and wear it as a reminder of the things I’ve already done and those I’ve yet to do. It helps me stay focused on my priorities, because whenever I get distracted or lazy, its weight on my chest reminds me that there are still too many dreams yet left to pursue to be lying around on the couch. To me, this little Lantern is a symbol of inspiration, guidance and direction. It’s a beacon of light and hope in a relentless pursuit of happiness which constitutes the essence of life. Perhaps my little charm would mean something profound to you as well.

the one with the leafy green background shows off the lantern to the fullest

the one with the leafy green background shows the lantern to its fullest

  3. Jenny H says:

I agree with Sandy. The leafy one shows off the pendant the best.

  4. Bel says:

I think that the first one on the pink background miniaturizes into thumbnail form with the most visibility/clarity of the piece, if that matters. (But I can’t stop sighing over the last shot in which the “light” of the flower bursts from the lantern.)

Stunning, meaningful piece. I covet it like crazy.

  5. Eiko says:

I agree that the second picture shows off the lantern and all its details the best.

  6. Glynis says:

Yep leafy green for me too ! Shows more of the detail I think, gorgeous

  7. Amanda Rudd says:

I agree with the consensus so far. The photo with the green-leaf background offers the best contrast with the silver and shows off the details of the pendant best. And man, I wish I could afford to order one! The lantern is so amazingly beautiful. The detail and the amount of work that must go into is absolutely impressive. Maybe someday…

I just love the third pic with hyacinths. I think violet reflects emphasize the color of silver.

  9. deborah says:

    leafy green background, definitely!

  10. I think the third photo, the one with the purple flowers, is the most flattering image. The pendant is crisp from edge to edge. And the purple adds a delicate softness to the overall piece that is very striking, but subtle. I like the leafy green image too, however, I feel like the pendant is lost in competing for attention with the vibrancy of the green color. Also, the outer edge of the pendant is slightly out of focus in the green image. It is simply stunning, whichever image you choose.

  11. Annina says:

can it be gotten in bronze, both lantern and crown bail, and what would the price be?

    i love it!
    leafy green one for me.

  12. Annina says:

oh, and, can we see a pic of you wearing it please?

  13. MollyTheWanderer says:

I’m gonna say the green picture is the best. I love this pendant, its both hefty and delicate at the same time.

  14. Merri says:

I honestly didn’t think these pendants would be made available, so I’m surprised and very happy.
My favourite photo is the third one. I think the flower colour compliments and highlights the lantern beautifully, without competing with it as I feel the green background does. I also absolutely love the last photo because it conveys the lanterns beautiful delicacy and the yellow centre of the flower appears to light the lantern from within.

  15. Marcia says:

If you want to show the pendant, the first image is the least distracting. I also would like to see all 4 sections, so maybe it could be ever so slightly turned instead of face on.
They are all beautiful photos and the pendant is gorgeous!

  16. SEL says:

My first love is the third picture with the blue/purple flowers. You can really see the detail wonderfully! However, it is hard to tell the scale of the lantern here. The green leafy shot really does offset the silver and gives proportion. However, I think there is a tradeoff because you can’t see the detail on the arches.

Just wonder how long it take to get my book? ,I live in the USA and I order my book in February.

  18. deeya loram says:

I am almost evenly split between the second and third- with the third winning out slightly!

  19. kelly says:

I like the third photo, with the purple flowers.
    The pendant is beautiful.

  20. Jody says:

    So exciting!
I think the last photo really makes it magical. Almost like a fairy lantern with the centre of the flower making it glow!

  21. Brenna says:

The second photo with the green leaves is the nicest overall. The pendant is off centered which makes it more interesting and artistic to me. I think the blurred out corner is a nice touch. This photo also shows the most detail. And, because I can see your fingers I have an idea of the size. Plus, that color green is a lovely color. The pendant is magnificent.

  22. Brenna says:

Sorry, I got it mixed up with my second choice, the picture where I can see your fingers, the last one.

  23. Has to be the Amethyst (Violet) shot. Its just perfect…..lucky are the ones who can have a pendant like this one. Unique!

  24. Sylvia says:

hm…the most interesting picture is the 4th, but the most representable picture is the first. It has a crisper quality regarding the lantern and the flowers are clearly in the background, as they should be.

I second the question about a bronze version.
    I would love both.

  25. Amoreen says:

Wow! It is even more beautiful than I thought. Although the first three pictures show the details best, I am for the last one. It drives me crazy, because it shows all of its beauty. I am speechless.

  26. Marina says:

Thanks for the votes, you guys!

Regarding your inquiries about having a bronze pendant:

Bronze is actually more difficult to cast than silver because it has less flow, and it causes lantern castings to fail at a staggering rate of 70% of all my attempts.

So, although it is possible, it’s not any cheaper than silver, because where it saves in the cost of silver alloy, it makes up the cost in the extra effort invested in it. Having said this, I can take a bronze order if that is the metal you prefer.

However, I don’t have any matching bronze ball chains, which is not to say that they don’t exist somewhere.

  27. Sabrina says:

I vote for the pic with the periwinkle blue flowers of course!

  28. Amal says:

I like seeing the scale of the pendant in the last shot and how the petals radiate like light around it.

    I’m saving up! n_n

(Can it be detached from the chain?)

  29. K. says:

I rather the purple flowers background. But truly my favorite is the last one, against the pale rose flower. The only thing that bothers is that the pendant is too distant in this one.

  30. Kate says:

I think the last one, because being able to see your fingertip gives me a better sense of the scale, plus I like the starburst effect of the flower.

  31. Ali says:

I think the last picture is the most inspirational. While it doesn’t show off the Lantern the best, it certainly emphasizes the beauty and majestic look of it. It looks like a picture from a fairy tale, and it’s my absolute favourite. c:

  32. Annina says:

thanks for the reply about bronze, Marina.
    interesting.

actually i simply prefer bronze, being the lucky owner of the bronze crown (of which there are new pics on my flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/anninaislove/7085205881/in/photostream), because it tarnishes less than silver and i love its warm tone.
however i have to save up first, but once i do bronze will be my choice, so thanks for considering to take bronze orders even despite the difficulty to cast them like that.

the lantern is so beautiful as a pendant, hoping i can afford it soon!

  33. Maria says:

I really like the one with the blue flowers, my father prefers the second one.
    The pendant is really beautiful.^^

  34. Orangey says:

The last shot made me mentally say ‘wow’.

And wow. Pendant available! Gosh, I have no money but if they’re still available in the future I would love to own one ;D!

  35. Andromeda says:

The last shot with the pendant in the pink flower. Always inspirational and always beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent with the rest of the world.

  36. sandy says:

I am so excited. I showed the picture to my husband and he looked for a minute and said “order one… its beautiful”

  37. Carol says:

Only the last one shows the scale, so that’s my choice.

  38. Nyxy says:

I love the one with the hyacinths! It’s so beautiful with the ornate silver! I so wish I could afford any of your lovely work! The inspiration eve looking gives is quite wonderful! Keep up your beautiful work!

  39. Cherylann says:
