There is now an Enchanted Doll twitter feed, where I will be posting short blurbs about my dolls.  This will be used for quick updates on work while I prepare for my solo show.  The blog will still be used for larger updates and photos, but for those curious about my process feel free to follow my twitter feed. [EDIT – I made it so the 3 most recent tweets will show up on this blog, in the sidebar – Chad]

The above photo is of the doll I’m currently working on.  This is just after the hair has been glued on, she looks much more elegant now. And she’s got armpit hair!

Yup, Armpit hair. I’ve been thinking about making a really womanly doll with some hair under the arm for quite some time now and, well…here it is. I was just curious to see what it would look like.

    Hi Marina,

Oh, how I love her. She’s such a delicate beauty. More than Kia, she makes me think of a nymph or nineteenth century ethereal girl. Her face is simply stunning; her face up amazing. Very natural, extremely realistic. I think that you are getting better and better. Every time I think you’ve completed your greatest work, you always surprise me. Every new doll you make is more beautiful than the previous one. This one has such an unforgettable and convincing face that it’s hard to take my eyes away from her. I really think it’s the face up you’ve given hair. I love the dramatic mix of colours. The blue eyes, red-pink lips and black hair. I really like that you’ve painted some hair on her sculp where the mohair (?) hair starts (around her face) or at least this is what it looks like.

I like the idea of the armpit hair but I personally think that there is something unnatural going on here. Or it’s not there yet. The armpit hair seems less realistic than the rest of the doll. This is probably because it’s your first armpit hair. :) I’m not convinced that a real woman needs armpit hair in order to be a woman but I can see that this is not what you mean and I like the whole concept.

  9. Absolutely love her, the armpit hair is a good idea and does not look odd at all. Maybe it’s just me, but I like to keep things natural. :)
