Hey everyone! I’m back from my summer vacation and I’m very tanned! Aaaand, I’ve finally created the ultimate summer vacation memory of running and jumping off the end of a dock into a lake for the first time in my life. I was only twenty or so years late for that event. It was profound, and pretty awesome.

In other news; I’m super excited to finally be able to share with you the accompanying movie from the photo shoot I did earlier this summer for Vogue Japan and… ta-da! Lux! This image here is a still frame from the movie. Watch the whole thing here. It was directed and shot by Lacey, who also shot my dolls for Vogue last year , while I animated them. The issue with the full spread is coming out this fall! I’ll post more info soon. Enjoy the movie and please let me know what your favorite scene is. And then I’ll tell you mine!

    Welcome back Marina!

This stop-motion video was one of the most enchanting things I have ever seen. I was *mesmerized,* seeing your dolls actually come to life like this. (It’s so wonderful to see these latest dolls completed! I can only beg for more photos of them.) The water and bubbles made such a sensuous, yet playful effect. Beautifully done. Your dolls put the product to shame.

  2. Mai says:

*oh!* favorite scene: the next-to-last, with the white haired doll trying to lightly capture the bubbles. She has such an expression of gentle wonder about her. It’s a quiet, yet playful scene. <3

  3. Jayne Wourms says:

It is all really lovely but I loved the blonde Cinderella faced doll against the limey green background and the dark haired doll in the rain.

  4. Stefy says:

This is more than an art video…the dolls are so alive and I can well imagine how difficult it must have been to take all those pics one after the other changing poses with dolls falling. My favourite one is the first part with sleeping Beauty laying in the water and changing sooo many poses. As I said a real work of art! well done Marina!

  5. Niiv says:

This was incredibly beautiful to watch! Your dolls really come to life here, and they are so very beautiful..

  6. Oli says:

Super nice to hear news of you and your new dolls after a while. I just can’t imagine how exciting it must be for all your fans to see your creations once again come to live. Those living dolls are my dream dolls that keep me dream on. So vivid and yet so far to reach! You have done it again Marina!

Congrats! You’re dollies are fantastic! :)
I’m sad that I’m living in Europe. :) I want to see those dolls someday in Japan! :)
I’m collecting a fashion dolls and sewing for them only! Creating a doll is a magic for me! :)

  9. Crystal says:

Wonderful video! I’m sure the makers of Lux are thrilled!
Favorite scene? I can understand why so many love the bubble play at the end, but I just was in such awe when the dark haired girl came on the screen. She didn’t move that much but she was sooooo self assured and elegant!

  10. I can only ask for more. Just seeing them come to life. I have to say the second dark haired doll that comes to life on the screen is amazing. Her eyes……..

Marina did you have to take all the dolls apart to dry them up. Putting them in water…goodness how stressful!

  11. Oh my! So very elegant and pretty! I love them all, but the third one, with the golden yellow background, with the huge flower, is breathtaking and I vote for her. Can we please, please buy one?? A beautiful Video, to wake up to. Welcome back, Marina! So glad you had a wonderful time on your well deserved Summer Holiday!

  12. I think, the huge flower, in photo #3 is a beautiful, day lily. I keep watching the Video, over and over and am amazed! Thank-you, Marina.

  13. Maia says:

Beautiful. I love how they have come to life! Hard to pick a ‘favorite’ but I do love the very beginning, the first doll laying down caressing/washing her body. Wow! The whole video is captivating and gorgeous though. Thanks for sharing it with us!

I like the second scene most with the dark-haired Beauty and her WONDERFUL headpiece. She looked so thoughtful, alive and her movements were – in my eyes – the most natural :-) She looked sooooo real and alive!!!!

I love the movie, very quiet and delicate beauty,I feel the every scene with the murmuring sound of nature such as tree and water. The white platinum hair ED seems to be dreaming, and she’s fantastic! The yellow-brown hair ED(left on the photo) seems to be very pleasant with the sweet smell of flowers(the flower bloosom tree reminds me SAKURA:cherry blossom!is it head piece?Beautifull),and cool breeze surrounding her.All dolls are exquisite anyway.Thank you,Marina-san^^Looking forward to seeing next movie as well!

  24. Crystal says:

I watched the video again and I noticed the pretty silvery pink flower head piece or is it a barrette? on the bubble girl at the end. So beautiful! I wish something like that was for sale!

  25. Danielle says:

If I must pick a favourite it would be the third scene with the golden background but they are all very beautiful. I especially like the group shot at the end.

  26. Barbara says:

Such a wonderful ad! I work in advertisement – and therefore know a fair bit about the business – This movie is unique (of course – so are your dolls, Marina)! I LOVE it! Wonderul!

  27. Mai says:

Ok Marina, so what’s *your* favorite scene? :-D

  28. Ginie says:

Enchanted ! That’s how I feel with this video …
Charmed with the first scene (if I must choose only one! )
…and longing for more pictures of your third doll , the one with yellow flower in her hair …

  29. I would love to know which scene is Marina’s favourite too! It absolutely, is difficult to pick a favourite for me, they are all so gorgeous! I just, want to buy one!

  30. Cloudy says:

My favorite scene was of the blonde antler girl caressing her face, she’s stunning! :>

  31. Marina please come back…..I need my ED fix…..:(

  32. Erin K says:

Yay! Congrats! Oh man, this was one beautiful video to watch. I think my favorite scene though would have to be the opening sequence with the lovely sleeping beauty elegantly laying in the water. Your dolls are always to inspiring…makes me want to get up and draw everytime I see them. Much love and cheers. <3

  33. Crystal says:

Okay, we are ready to hear which part you liked the best Marina. So?????

  34. Sylvia says:

I like the scene best, where the brunette doll with the yellow flowers is surrounded by the jumping water drops.
    It looks almost magical.

  35. My favorite shot is the still orange rain. I think. As for doll animation, it’s probably the first opening shot.

  36. Jayne Wourms says:

Agreed, it is simply beautiful. Would make a lovely poster.

  37. Looking forward to more info. on the latest Vogue shoot. I sure hope, we will be able to purchase that issue when it comes out. Will wait for word, from Marina. I hope it’s soon, can’t wait!

  38. Crystal says:

I wonder, are there any stills that could be posted of the shoot? Please? We all await a few crumbs from the table.

  39. I would love to see greeting cards made, with some of the enchanted dolls. For example. a box of 10. Wouldn’t that be so cool?? Then we could send them to our Friends on ED Forum. Especially, the dolls on the last Video and some earlier, porcelaine beauties. I wish!

  40. Tess says:

Congratulations on the movie for LUX!

Have you seen these recent pictures of Miranda Kerr (styled as Italian porn star-turned-politician Ilona Staller aka Cicciolina? ) http://www.hollywoodtuna.com/?page_id=65069&id=miranda_kerr_cicciolina_66_4&title=Miranda%20Kerr%20Pictures&loc=3
