Hair styling for White Peacock.

I use only natural fibres such as Mohair, Angora Goat and Silk for my dolls’ wigs; Never synthetics, as I just don’t like the synthetic aesthetic and I don’t think it suits fine porcelain very well.

All my wig caps are magnetic and custom made to each doll’s head shape and size, as close fit is very important to me. I construct them out of polyester gauze, flexible rubber glue and small-but-powerful magnets. Once everything sets, the wig can be washed, brushed, conditioned, cut, curled, straightened or dyed, just like human hair. The only thing it doesn’t do, is grow back.

Long wigs with loose hair are my favourite, as it suggests youth, health, sexuality and vitality.

Whit Peacock has very luxurious, extra long 8” mohair wig in natural white, and this is its natural wave. It’s very soft, supple and wispy to the touch, like peacock’s feathers. After washing and conditioning it, I only did a little bit of cutting around the face, to create a natural variance in length, and reduce a little bit of volume in the back, the way it would naturally grow out. Then I let it air dry overnight at room temperature, but sometimes I also use some gentle heat. If the wig gets too volumous and wild, like in the last picture, I usually re-wet it, and re-apply more conditioner, add curl-defining product, and then re-dry overnight in a cool room inside a fine, weighted mesh, so that it doesn’t get too puffy.
