Enchanted resin dolls have glass eyes
And tiny eyelashes!
At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to give my resin dolls glass eyes, but once I found the right kind of eyes, I was won over. This in turn, allowed me to give these dolls real eyelashes, something I’ve always wanted to do, but was unable to due to the shallow surface area of porcelain eyelids. The eyes are tacked on with a sticky gum inside, which means they can be changed fairly easily. The head cap is magnetic and the head is removable from the rest of the body. The doll is strung up with elastic and it articulates and holds poses very well. I am very happy with the quality of resin and the soft, satin glow of the skin.
Tomorrow I’ll shoot all my newly painted resin dolls and show you all of it!

September 27th, 2012 21:08
This is just awesome! I have a question–you fire all of your porcelain dolls yourself, right? But I assume that you had to have these dolls manufactured elsewhere off of your designs/molds? What was it like doing this, and how did it differ from the porcelain process? Just so curious… I love every glimpse of this new process!
September 27th, 2012 21:35

September 28th, 2012 05:59
does Chad get to paint one? i’d love to see her!
September 28th, 2012 09:01
Marina, I commend your versatility and courage as an artist. You are not afraid to try new things — and you rapidly become a master of new techniques once you put your hand to them! I am inspired! You have delighted your fans once again. The new resin dolls have a character and essence that is uniquely their own. They are playful, charming, and entirely enchanted. I still love the painted eyes of the porcelain dolls — they too, have a soulful gaze and are always beautifully done. I’m glad that we get to see both in your work.
September 28th, 2012 09:34
These are exquisite! absolutely beautiful!
September 28th, 2012 09:38
This is quite a surprise!!! I have to admit though that I’m somewhat disappointed these resin dolls will have glass eyes, originally I was won over by EDs because of their painted eyes, they had so much expression in them, this is what made EDs stand out from the crowd of glass-eyed BJDs. But all the faces on the pic look the same((( I think the new faces lost Marina’s artistic touch with these new eyes((( I totally understand the excitement though, glass eyes allow fans to change eye color, etc, it’s an awesome possibility.
September 28th, 2012 11:26
Fantastic work Marina! So exciting! Does it take the same amount of time to paint them? Will we see dolls with different skin colors?
September 28th, 2012 16:09
They all look fantastic. Love the idea of glass eyes and real eyelashes.
Marina, the resin girls look outstanding. It took two years in making but it well worth it, they are stunning. I just hope that there will be more resin doll for all your fans.
Congratulations with your new babies.
September 28th, 2012 16:51
Ohhhhh. They look incredible, they REALLY look incredible. So breathtaking and beautiful. I love how you’ve managed to choose the right type of resin and paint them in a way that they actually look like porcelain. Even the lips are the same style even when the process is so radically different.
The painted eyes on your porcelain dolls are perfect and the glass eyes on the resins really suit them. Eyelashes are a great idea. The only thing is that of course with painted eyes one can vary the shape or style slightly whereas that’s not possible here, but who cares.
September 28th, 2012 17:23
hard to believe they’re resin. they look as beautiful as the poceline dolls. awesome job, as always, can’t wait for pics
September 28th, 2012 20:40
love, love, love ^—-^
September 28th, 2012 21:06
Wow Marina! I see a difference in your dolls eyes that don’t make your dolls look any less beautiful!!
September 29th, 2012 02:03
September 29th, 2012 11:37
Oh!she’s so real,I want her.
September 29th, 2012 13:15
Glad you are happy with the quality of the resin. It seems to have a lovely luminosity to it that is so beautiful. I love that these resin dolls have glass eyes and real eyelashes. It makes them so amazingly lifelike. I am sure they will be a huge success. Just going from the blog comments, it seems that everyone is smitten with them already. Thank you for not giving up on a resin line of dolls.
September 29th, 2012 16:50
ah, I am absolutely blown away by how wonderful the glass eyes look! The resin seems equally beautiful, it looks like french resin to my eyes. Any chance of these beauties, or more like them, going on general sale?
October 1st, 2012 11:38
These are the best, most expressive glass-eyed doll faces ever. Gorgeous. I have one question, though I doubt it will be answered. In the past, you have ventured to make dolls of various skin color in your porcelain dolls. The resin dolls are marvellous and may be able to reach an even wider audience due to material and cost. But considering how they are cast, do you plan on offering varied skin tones? If you did.. I can’t express how glorious that would be.
